Conclusion

The fossil-fuel consisting of: Coal, Oil and Gas, which are burnt to produce electricity, are all finite resources and consequently will not be available in not distant future. The other main source of electricity, nuclear power, has its dangers to humanity.

Thus it is socially unacceptable to many. The obvious deduction, therefore, is that alternative energy from safer and continuing sources such as the Sun, Wind and Water will be required to replace fossil-fuels.

The power of Rivers and the Wind has been harnessed by waterwheels for at least 2,200 years and by Windmills for at least 1,300 years. Then, they were not alternative sources energy. They were the only available sources of energy. The modern waterwheel is the water turbine used in large dams.

When water flows through the turbine’s angled blades, theforce of the water pushing against the blades makes the turbine spin. A generator linked to it also spins and produces electricity, hence the term hydroelectricity. In order to avoid the environmentally damaging mistakes of the developed economies, developing countries need to invest massively in  alternatives. To harness energy from the Sun, shallow strays called flat plate collectors on a building roof heat water by action of sunlight. They work like greenhouses, trapping heat under their glass tops.

Water flowing through pipes in the collector absorbs the heat generated. Such simple technology appears to be the solution for the future as fossil-fuels are rapidly depleted. So African economies especially must consider seriously capital investments in such technology. ERS Energy has business linkages to companies engaged in developing alternative energy sources as described. There is a design specification through to installation of systems.
